The World War I Monument is located in the Heritage Society Plaza, behind the offices, Tea Room, and Museum, adjacent to Sam Houston Park. The monument consists of a bronze plaque set in a base comprised of granite blocks. The plaque lists the names of Houston residents who died serving in the war. Beneath it is a bronze urn planted with a fern.
