A distinctive landmark of the Memorial Park landscape since 1984, Three Quarter Time is the work of San Antonio sculptor Ben Woitena. The welded steel composition is painted a bright red, which is offset every spring by a natural lawn of bluebonnets, the state flower of Texas. Memorial Park’s Living Bridge, which is draped in green plants, is its year-round backdrop. Woitena’s abstract works can be found across the state, including in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and at Terminal E at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, among many other important collections. Three Quarter Time was last restored in 1996.
